Why photocopier service near me is not the same as printer service
A photocopier is a different kind of machine from a desktop printer. It is large, often floor standing, and it does several jobs at once: copying, printing, scanning and often faxing or document filing. It also joins your network, your email and sometimes your user logins. When one part of that fails, the whole machine can look dead.
That is why a search for photocopier service near me is best answered by a technician who comes to the machine. A copier does not go to a shop. Moving one can damage it, and the fault may be in how it connects to your office rather than in the machine itself. We repair and service photocopiers at the customer premises across metropolitan Brisbane, for commercial clients only: offices, practices, schools, councils, warehouses and strata.
For printers and label printers, see our pages on printer repair near me and printer service near me. This page keeps to copiers and multifunction machines.

Copier faults and what each one points to
Describe the symptom plainly when you ring. These are common copier faults, with the page that explains each.
- An error code on the panel. Codes differ by make and model, so write down the exact wording. See copier error codes, or the brand pages for Toshiba e-STUDIO and Kyocera TASKalfa. Our post on common Toshiba e-STUDIO messages and the one on reading a Kyocera C code help with the wording.
- Paper jams. A repeating jam in the same place can point to the paper path or a worn part, not bad luck. See photocopier paper jams, and the post on why a machine keeps jamming.
- Black lines and streaks. Lines can come from the scanner glass, the drum or the fuser, among other places. See black lines and streaks, and what lines and streaks on copies mean.
- Toner that smears or rubs off. This can point to the fuser. See toner smearing and fuser faults.
- Copies will not come out. See copier not printing.
- Grinding or squealing. See copier noise. If a noise is new, ring before running the machine for long.
- Scans do not reach an inbox. See scan to email not working.
The full range of symptoms is on the copier and printer faults page.
What a copier repair visit involves
Here is how a repair runs, from the call to the handover.
- Ring and describe the fault. Give the make, the model, any code or message and what was happening. If the line is busy, the call is logged and returned.
- Agree the price on the phone. It is settled before a technician is booked.
- The visit. A certified technician attends your premises. Same day service is available, depending on the fault and the diary.
- Repair and test. A good visit ends with test copies and prints, so the result is visible before anyone leaves.
- Handover. Ask for the job that failed to be run in front of you, such as a double sided copy or a scan to a folder.
About 98% of repairs are completed on the first visit. A fault that returns is fixed again at no charge.

When the copier works but the network does not
Many faults on a multifunction machine are not the machine. A copy can come out perfectly while printing from desktops fails, because a copy test clears the print engine only. It does not test the network, the controller, the hard drive or the access control behind it.
- If copying works but printing does not, the fault can sit in the network path, the print queue or the driver on the computers. Our printer offline and network faults page covers this ground.
- If printing works but scanning does not, the cause may be an email server setting, a shared folder permission or a changed password. A copier may fail to send mail if the password it uses has since expired.
- If only one person cannot print, check that person computer before suspecting the copier.
Be careful with one test in particular. If the copier web page opens from a computer, that proves the machine can be reached. It does not prove the print port is working. Mention what you tried when you ring, and the technician can start from there.
Mixed fleets and large office copiers
Many Brisbane businesses have grown a mixed fleet: a Kyocera on one floor, a Canon in the front office, a Ricoh inherited from a previous tenant. We service the makes above, so one call can cover all of them. If you have more than one make, list each machine by make, model and floor when you ring.
A large floor standing copier in constant use has more to wear than a desktop machine: rollers, drums, a fuser and a paper path that handles thousands of sheets. Faults can give notice first, such as slower feeding, a repeating mark or a new noise, so ring at the first sign rather than waiting for a stop. Our post on how long an office copier should last helps you judge age against condition, and the is my copier worth repairing page gives a decision rule. For a view of larger A3 machines, see A3 photocopier repairs.
Planned copier service
Offices that would rather not wait for a fault can ask about planned copier service: regular maintenance visits, scheduled service or a planned service contract. The scope and the price are agreed on the phone.
A planned visit typically cleans the paper path, checks wear parts against their page ratings, runs test copies and notes what is coming due. It suits copiers used all day by many people, where a stop would hold up a whole floor. Machines used rarely may do well on fault repair alone. The post on what planned service visits typically cover sets this out.
What to have ready before you ring
- Make and model, usually on a label on the front or inside a door.
- The exact message or code, or a photo of the panel.
- What happened just before: a jam, a storm, a power cut, a move.
- Whether copying, printing, scanning or all three are affected.
- Where the machine is, the floor and any lift or loading dock access.
When clearing a paper jam, leave the machine on unless the manual says otherwise. Never reach into or past parts marked hot. If the jam is at or near the fuser, shut the machine down properly and let it cool for the time the manual states. Remove paper in the direction shown on the label inside the cover. For smoke, flame or a burning smell, leave the machine, follow your building fire procedure and ring 000.
Photocopier repair near me, by kind of premises
These are the area pages. Each lists the districts we attend, and the notes say what premises are typical there. Give your suburb when you ring and we will confirm that we attend.
Towers and professional offices. The Brisbane CBD page covers Queen, Adelaide, Eagle, Creek and Edward streets. Loading dock and lift access matter in towers, and our post on CBD towers and copier service visits covers it. Close by are Fortitude Valley and Newstead, South Brisbane and Woolloongabba and Milton. Across to the west, offices at Toowong, Indooroopilly and Kenmore are on their own page, with inner west Brisbane and the Centenary suburbs nearby.
Government, health and education. Councils, practices and schools are spread across the suburbs. The northside page takes in Chermside, Northgate and Nundah. Further north are North Lakes and Strathpine, Redcliffe, Caboolture and Morayfield and Bribie Island. On the south side, see Sunnybank and Mount Gravatt, Carindale and Camp Hill, the Redlands and Wynnum and Manly.
Warehouses, trade and logistics. The eastern suburbs and airport page covers Eagle Farm, Pinkenba, Murarrie and the Trade Coast. Acacia Ridge and Archerfield has its own page.
Growth areas to the south and west. Logan, Logan Central and Browns Plains, Beenleigh and Yatala, Ipswich, Booval and Amberley, the Ipswich corridor and Springfield and Ripley are all covered.
Beyond the metro area. We also attend Beaudesert and the Scenic Rim, the Lockyer Valley and Gatton and Toowoomba.
The overall picture is on photocopier service Brisbane. Printer makes are on HP, Lexmark, Brother, Epson, OKI and Zebra, and commercial printer repairs covers the rest.
