Northside service

Photocopier Service and Printer Repairs, Brisbane Northside

Gympie Road is the spine of the northside, and almost everything we are called to sits within a few minutes of it or of Sandgate Road and the Bruce Highway. Medical suites at Chermside, workshops at Virginia and Geebung, offices and schools at Nundah, Stafford and Aspley, a long industrial belt at Brendale. Photocopier service and printer repairs are done on site wherever you are along it, and same day service is on offer. The price is agreed with you over the phone.

Printer and copier service for Brisbane Northside

Photocopier service on the northside, Gympie Road top to bottom

Start at Kedron and Lutwyche and head north. The first stretch is professional offices, medical suites and small firms in older buildings, some of them former houses with a ramp added at the front. Then Chermside, where the big shopping centre, the Prince Charles Hospital and a thick cluster of specialist rooms make it the biggest business hub on the northside. Then Aspley, Carseldine and Bald Hills, quieter, with schools, practices and small business parks. And on to Strathpine and Brendale, where the industrial and trade businesses begin to outnumber the shops.

Sandgate Road runs a parallel line through Albion, Nundah and Boondall, with its own mix of agencies, trade and community offices, and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre area. Everything in between is a tangle of small businesses that are hard to put into one box.

What each stretch prints

We find it useful to think about the northside in bands.

Chermside: where the patients are waiting

A specialist suite at Chermside is not a quiet place. Reception prints forms for patients who have only just walked in, and the consulting room prints the referral that leaves with them. When the printing stalls a queue forms at the counter. Our first questions: does the fault hit every page or only some, and is this the machine that prints patient forms? Often a phone conversation is enough to arrive with the likely part, and the aim is one visit.

Privacy runs through this. Copiers and printers with a hard drive can hold copies of earlier jobs, so a service or replacement in a medical suite starts with a conversation about where that data goes. If it matters to your practice, say so on the call.

Ask for same day

Virginia, Geebung and the industrial belts

Virginia and Geebung are workshop country. Roller doors open onto yards, forklifts run all day, and the office is a room upstairs or at the front of the shed. The work there is dockets, labels, quotes and plans. Brendale and the streets behind Strathpine carry bigger sites with larger fleets. A business park at Brendale may have a dozen tenants and a dozen different copier brands.

Plan printing deserves its own mention. Builders, engineers and signage businesses run wide format machines, and those get their own list of faults: ink or toner supply, roll feed problems, cutter blades, media sensors. If your business prints plans, tell us which machine, and we say what we can do.

Machines and makes

Which make you meet depends on the street. Toshiba and Kyocera copiers are the commonest sight along Gympie Road. Practices lean to Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE and Ricoh. Schools and council sites often run Konica Minolta or Sharp, and the small jobs at the front desk go to HP and Brother lasers. We have no tie to any maker.

The faults we are called to most on the northside

A shorter list than you might expect.

  • Feed rollers worn smooth, with double feeds, misfeeds and a slap at the start of the sheet
  • A fuser near the end of its life, with smears, creases and toner that rubs off
  • Scan to email or folder that stopped after an IT or provider change
  • Bands, lines and spots from a drum, a belt or a dirty laser window
  • Finisher faults on school and council print runs
  • Storm damage on the power side of the machine
Not sure it is worth fixing? We will say so straight. If it is finished we can supply another, warranted.

Nundah, Toombul and the Sandgate Road offices

Sandgate Road between Albion and Nundah is a long strip of agencies, trade suppliers, small consultancies and community services. A lot of the buildings are low brick suites with a shared car park at the back. Machines here are mostly A3 colour multifunctions that serve four to twelve people, and they work hard in short bursts: statements out on the last day of the month, a stack of contracts before a settlement.

A copier in a smaller office usually has no dedicated IT person. The password for scan to email was set up years ago by someone who left. When a mail provider changes its rules, the scan stops and nobody knows why. That is a common call, and we can tell quickly whether the machine can still log in to the mail server or whether the setting needs refreshing.

A code on the display is a pointer

People often read out a code and ask what is wrong. On Kyocera it is usually a C followed by four digits. On Toshiba e-STUDIO it is a C or an E and a number. On Canon, Ricoh and others it takes other shapes. Whatever the make, a code points toward an area of the machine, such as the fuser, the drive or the scanner, and it is a clue rather than a verdict.

A fuser code may be a failed heater, a thermistor that is dirty, a connector that has lost grip or a board that has not read a signal properly. We do not guess. We tell you what the code usually means, what the technician will check, and what the options are. Do not repeatedly power cycle a machine that shows a fuser or drive code. Switch it off and ring us.

Strathpine to Brendale: trade counters and showrooms

The Gympie Road end and the industrial parks off it include trade counters, kitchen and cabinet showrooms, building suppliers and small manufacturers. Their front counters print quotes, order forms and invoices all day, and the printer next to the till is usually an A4 laser or a small multifunction. It is cheap to replace and expensive to be without, so we try to fix it on the same visit.

The back office may have a larger machine, and a plotter for drawings if the business designs kitchens or fabricates anything. We look after all of it.

Storms come from the north west

Afternoon storms in the wet season often come across the D'Aguilar foothills and hit the northside hard. A copier that lost power during one may not restart cleanly. If it died with a click, tell us when you ring. A good surge board is cheap and worth fitting.

Paper stored in a shed or a back room with no air conditioning soaks up moisture in summer and jams in odd ways. If your machine only misbehaves in the wet, look at the paper.

Schools and community offices

The northside has a lot of schools and a lot of community organisations, and they behave in a predictable way. Print volumes rise at the start of each term and near the end, and a copier that has coped quietly for weeks can start to show faults. A visit in the weeks before a busy period is cheaper than a stoppage in the middle of it.

Paper that is not ordinary

Northside offices print on more than plain white. Letterhead with a raised logo, adhesive labels, envelopes, card for name tags and certificates, glossy stock for brochures. Each puts its own load on the paper path. Envelopes jam at the registration roller if they are fed from the wrong tray. Labels can melt in a fuser that is too hot and leave adhesive on a drum. Heavy card needs the bypass tray and the right setting at the panel.

If your machine is jamming on a particular stock, tell us what it is, and whether it is meant for laser machines. That detail alone often explains the fault.

A practice at Chermside, a yard at Geebung

If you have more than one site, tell us on the first call. A practice at Chermside with a second consulting address at Aspley, or a builder with a yard at Geebung and an office at Nundah. We plan them together, give you a price on the phone and book the visits around your days.

Our northside technicians are trained, experienced and certified, and 98% of jobs are finished on the first visit. If a fault comes back we fix it again at no charge. Busy lines never lose a call: it is logged and returned.

Replacement, without the sales pitch

If a machine has reached the end, we say so straight. Replacements come from us too, new or refurbished and warranted, and we buy used machines. That sits apart from the repair advice.

Parts on the van

The right part has to be in the van

A one visit repair only happens if the part is on board. We carry the common wearing items for the makes we see most, Toshiba and Kyocera above all: drums, fuser units, pickup rollers, cleaning blades, waste toner containers.

Because we also buy and sell machines we see which parts fail early on which models, and that shapes what rides in the van.

Questions people ask us on the phone

Do you offer photocopier service and printer repairs at Chermside and across the northside?

Yes. Lutwyche, Kedron, Windsor, Nundah, Toombul, Northgate, Boondall, Stafford, Chermside, Aspley, Carseldine, Zillmere, Virginia, Geebung, Strathpine, Brendale and the streets between.

Do you service medical practices at Chermside?

Yes. Tell us about opening hours and patient privacy and we plan around them.

Can you repair a wide format plan printer?

Give us the make, model and symptom and we say what we can do.

Our copier died in a storm. What should we do?

Leave it switched off at the wall and ring us. We start with the power side and the network connection.

What happens to data on the copier when you replace it?

We talk about it before the machine goes. Ring and say it matters.

Do you cover Brendale and Eatons Hill?

Yes, along with Strathpine and the northern industrial parks.

Why does our machine jam on envelopes and labels?

Usually the wrong tray or a stock that is not made for laser machines. Labels in particular can melt in a hot fuser. Tell us the stock and the tray, and we look at the paper path.

The display shows a code. Can we reset it ourselves?

A code is a pointer to an area of the machine, not a diagnosis. If it concerns a fuser or a drive, switch the machine off and ring us rather than power cycling it.

We have two sites on the northside. Can you do both?

Yes. Give us both on the first call.
