Ex demo, Brisbane
Ex demo means the machine has been switched on and shown, not worked. It has done a small slice of the pages a copier in a busy office does in a year, and it looks it. Plenty of Brisbane offices want today's model without paying new money, and for them an ex demo photocopier is often the smarter buy. Each machine is warranted, and we do the delivery and set up. Phone (07) 3073 5255.
Imagine a copier that has stood in a showroom, been run through a handful of demonstrations and then put back in the queue. That is the picture. It is not a brand new box and it is not a worn second hand machine. The meter reading is low, the covers are clean and the features are the same as the new one.
What it does not carry is the full new price. Think of a start up that needs a proper A3 machine, a practice whose old one has finally died, or a school putting a second copier into the admin block. That price gap is why they look.

People ask us what the difference is between ex demo, reconditioned, used and new. Here it is in one view.
| Kind | What it is | Who it tends to suit |
|---|---|---|
| New | Straight from the box, current model, nothing on the meter | High volume offices and anyone who wants the newest features |
| Ex demo | Near new, shown a few times and never worked | Buyers who prefer a recent model and a smaller bill than new |
| Reconditioned | Used, inspected, serviced, worn parts replaced, tested | Most small and medium offices |
| Used | Owned before, then tested by us | Light workloads, back up machines, tight budgets |
Light use is not the same as no checking. We read the meter and go through the feed path and rollers, look at the fuser and drum, test the scanner and the document feeder, and print test pages looking for streaks, bands and colour drift. Every tray and finishing option gets tried.
Then we change the settings. A showroom machine is set for a showroom. We reset it for an office: paper sizes, user codes, scan destinations, security and the network.
We answer all six for every machine we sell, and would rather you asked than assumed.
Every machine we sell is warranted. You get an explanation of what is covered before you decide, and we do not stretch it. Ask how it applies to one particular machine and the answer will be plain.
A service team that knows the machine stands behind it. The technicians are trained, experienced and certified, they bring the usual spare parts, and 98% of repairs are done in one visit. Should the same fault reappear, we repair it again free of charge.
A copier that has done little work still has rollers that age with the calendar, and a fuser that has run lightly is still a fuser. We put an ex demo machine on the same service footing as any other and tell you what the first service is likely to involve. No surprises, which is how we like it.
A builder fitting out a site office. An accounting firm that needs a decent A3 machine before the end of financial year rush. A clinic that wants a current model but not a lease. They tend to say the same thing: they want a machine they can own, and nobody posting a notice at the end of five years.
If you want a straight comparison against a lease, we run it through on the phone. How long will you need the machine, would you rather own or hand it back, and would you prefer to pay once or spread it? Those three answers decide it.
The worry people have is that an ex demo unit might be hiding something. It is a reasonable worry and the answer is the checking. We do not take a machine off the floor and into a customer's office without printing test pages, reading the meter and trying every tray and finishing option. If something is worn, even a little, we replace it. If a component has taken a knock in transit, we find that on the bench and not in your office.
Demonstration use is also gentler than ordinary use in some respects. A showroom machine is not fed damp paper in a hot back room, it is not run through a month of end of financial year printing and nobody has stapled originals into its feeder. It is clean and it is lightly used, and that is what the page count shows.
Somebody rings and says the old copier has died, the quote for a new one is more than the budget, and could we help. We ask the questions: volume, colour, A3 or A4, the features. Sometimes the answer is a reconditioned machine. Sometimes it is ex demo, because a recent model is available that matches what they need. We say which, and why, and the price goes with it. No pressure to take either.
The machine on a showroom floor is often a colour A3 multifunction, the sort that settles into practices, agencies, schools and small councils. What we hold changes from week to week. Need only black and white, or only A4? Tell us, and our answer on whether ex demo fits or a reconditioned machine makes more sense will be an honest one.
The page count is the first number we quote and the one buyers most often misread. A low count on an old machine is good news. The same count on one that sat idle for years is less welcome, since rubber parts perish and toner settles. We look at both the count and the age, then tell you which way the numbers lean. A three year old machine with a modest count is a very different animal from a nine year old one with the same figure, and a seller who only quotes the count is telling half the story.
You can buy outright, or we can arrange finance, rental or lease. Hire under 12 months suits a project, rental over 24 to 36 months suits flexibility, and lease over 36 to 60 months suits an office wanting a current machine with no big outlay. No prices appear on this page, as stock moves and each figure depends on the machine.
When one machine replaces another, ours collects the old unit on delivery day, and we trade in or buy commercial machines you own. Its drive is wiped clean before it goes out your door.
Ex demo machines head to offices all over the Brisbane region: the western corridor out to Ipswich, Moreton Bay, the Redlands and up to Toowoomba. Call (07) 3073 5255 or leave your details on the contact page. When every line is taken, we log the call and come back to you.
The second callout
So we fuss about the first visit. The van carries the common spares, and the technician knows the model before knocking on the door. 98% of repairs finish first time.
The rest we tell you about at once, with what is needed.

It was used for demonstrations rather than in a working office, so it has had only light use and looks close to new.
It behaves like a near new machine. Each one is checked thoroughly before sale, and it is warranted.
